It’s called “Project Lifesaver” and Niagara police say it will help them find people suffering from dementia who wander away from their homes…

It’s a wrist band with a transmitter that can send out tracking signals up to two kilometres away. It can be monitored with an FM receiver. Officers using the electronic search equipment can find missing people within 30 minutes. York, Peel, Guelph and the Ontario Provincial Police already use Project Lifesaver. The program will be introduced first in Welland and Pelham, and will eventually be expanded to the entire Niagara region.
