Toshiba buying Hamilton motor manufacturer

Good news for Hamilton’s industrial sector.

A Hamilton tech company will be expanding its operations after a buy-out from Toshiba which agreed to buy Elettra Technology, a local manufacturer of custom industrial electric motors.

The sale means a new name and a new home, but the plant will stay in Hamilton. Toshiba is relocating manufacturing to a newly renovated facility so it can ramp up production.

Elettra was founded almost 20 years ago by former employees of Westinghouse.
