Raitt meets with Vertis workers

Former Vertis communications workers met with federal labour minister Lisa Raitt this afternoon as they continue to try to get some compensation after the Stevensville plant’s abrupt closure in January.

The workers were told by the company they wouldn’t be paid severance. But because Vertis filed for bankruptcy in the U.S., workers believe they’re entitled to $3600 each under the wage earner protection program.

More than 100 people lost their jobs.
