A new outlet mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake is aiming to rival the popular Grove City Mall in Pennsylvania.

That was the word at a ground-breaking this morning. The ceremony took place at the QEW and Glendale.

The first phase of the $178 million Outlet Collection at Niagara mall is due to open a year from now. At 700,000 square feet, it will be the largest open air outlet mall in the country.

Bass Pro Shops will be an anchor in the mall. Among the other stores: Calvin Klein and Brooks Brothers.

It hopes to attract between 6 and 8-million shoppers a year.
