Hamilton police have recovered over 500 fake u-s coins for sale in the city.

They’re imitations of the “Silver Eagle” 10 ounce coins, and have been showing up over the past few months. Police say the fakes were hard to identify because they are professionally manufactured, and of high quality. Whoever made them used silver and nickel plating to disguise the fact that they’re actually brass on the inside. Suspects bought the counterfeit coins online, and have been selling them to unsuspecting shops.
