Premier Kathleen Wynne says she’ll be talking with federal officials about safer public transportation.

Wynne says she was horrified to learn of the alleged terror plot that was in its planning stages. She says she’s concerned about people living here in Canada turning to radical beliefs. She is pleased to hear the Muslim community was working with law enforcement to point out a pair of people who allededly planned to attack a VIA train.

Ontario’s attorney general wants airport-style checks of passengers boarding VIA trains. John Gerretsen believes passengers boarding trains and other public forms of transportation should have their bags checked just as passengers boarding planes do. “I think I was as horrified as anyone would be, it’s a horrific situation, it’s frightening and obviously we as a government have to do everything to make sure that we keep people safe and that we get information as early as possible and we will do that.”

Wynne says she found out about the RCMP arresting two alleged terrorists the same time the public did. She says now we all have to listen to the facts before we react.
