Ontario cottage country in state of emergency
The City of Kawartha Lakes and the towns of Bracebridge and Huntsville are battling flooding caused by heavy rain.
They remain under a state of emergency, and residents are being warned to avoid open waters, creeks and rivers. Also, low lying residents have been told to get above ground.
The City of Kawartha Lakes has issued a statement advising residents to evacuate flooded areas. These areas include the Burnt River, Black River and Gull River watersheds.
In Bracebridge more than 2 dozen streets are closed, and more flooding is expected over the next 36 to 48 hours.
