Construction is underway on the Hamilton public school board’s new education centre.

The $31.6 million headquarters will be a three-level, 137 square foot complex on Millwood Place. The new centre will incorporate a few elements from the old building on Main Street West. Board officials say the design will cut down on energy costs by 25 percent.

So far, the excavation on the site is finished, and pouring of the concrete foundation and basement walls is done. Construction is expected to be complete by next summer.
