Teacher faces sex assault charges

A Scarborough public school teacher is facing 42 criminal charges, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation and assault.

Toronto police say there are about 30 alleged victims — all of whom attended Inglewood Heights Junior Public School. 53-year old Christian Kpodjie, a French teacher at the school, was arrested Wednesday. Police say he’d been working as a teacher in Toronto since 2007 and previously taught at Humberwood Downs Junior Middle Academy in Etobicoke in 2008, Derrydown Public School in North York in 2009, Chester Le Junior Public School in Scarborough in 2010 and Gateway Public School in East York in 2012. A crisis response team is now at Inglewood. Kpodjie has been suspended with pay.
