Murderer denied appeal in Jane Creba case

Canada’s top court has refused to hear the case of a man convicted in the Toronto shooting death of a teenaged girl that
shocked the country.

Jorrell Simpson-Rowe was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 15-year-old Jane Creba.

On Boxing Day of 2005, Creba was cut down by gunfire between rival gangs as she shopped with family on a busy downtown street.

Simpson-Rowe argued his charter rights were violated when his request to be tried by judge alone was denied, and the Crown used a
section of the Youth Criminal Justice Act to give him a jury trial.
