Multiple fires in Hamilton
It was a busy Monday morning for Hamilton firefighters as they responded to three separate fires in less than an hour.
One fire started around 11:30 on Murray Street near Catharine to which ten units responded.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames and nobody inside the home was hurt, but a firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for burns.
A neighbour says he was concerned the flames could spread to his house because the fire engulfed the house very quickly.
“They were just shooting right out of the front door and the bay window and almost to half of the lawn. It was huge.”
A half-hour before that fire was called in, firefighters responded to a home on West 4th Street on the mountain, near Mohawk College, for a basement fire.
Emergency crews also responded to a fire on MacNab Street North just before noon, where a pot on a stove caught fire.
