Mercanti wants to talk casino with councillors
A developer who has his eyes set on opening a casino in downtown Hamilton, is asking to talk to councillors – but not everyone is on board.
The controversial plan has drawn protestors who are against the idea of a casino in the downtown core. In addition to a casino, PJ Mercanti’s proposal could include a hotel, restaurant and entertainment facilities.
CHCH’s Lisa Knap is at city hall and says councillors are also split on the idea. Councillor Brad Clark doesn’t want to hear from Mercanti, but councillor Lloyd Ferguson does.
It’s expected Mercanti will get to make a presentation on February 6th.
