Humane society tax bill

The Burlington Humane Society has won the first hurdle of its fight against a $45,000 tax bill.

Back in October, the humane society received the hefty bill after they had been incorrectly assessed for property tax exemption.

A city committee decided unanimously to approve the tax exemption, but council will get the final say.

The decision is set for Monday.
