Can’t fix health care without talking to users: Horwath
Ontario’s NDP is launching a new initiative to tackle problems within the provincial health care system.
Leader Andrea Horwath says her party will consult with front-line workers, patients and families about how to fix the system. She announced the initiative this morning, and says she’ll be asking her MPP’s to seek input for new ideas.
“I don’t believe that we can fix the system if we are afraid to talk to the people who use it. In tough economic times people have to know that the health care system is there for them. We will be seeking input on what works in their communities, what doesn’t work and how to make it better for them.”
Horwath says she’s especially concerned about ER wait times, problems with home care and the inspection process at nursing homes.
