Elderly woman dies after being involved in crash

An 83-year-old woman has died after being involved in an earlier multi-vehicle accident on the Fort Erie bound QEW Saturday night.

The woman was taken to the Hamilton General Hospital after the crash as a precaution. Officials believe she later died as a result of an unrelated medical condition.

The OPP are investigating the accident, which began when a vehicle struck a guardrail just before midnight near Northshore Boulevard, causing a six-vehicle crash.

Responding police officers say when they arrived they found people with minor injuries, described mostly as cuts and bruises.
