Blast at Acton sulphur plant

An explosion at an Acton factory kept firefighters busy this afternoon.

It happened at Holly Industries, a sulphur processing plant on Eastern Avenue. Reports say an explosion was heard before the fire broke out at around 12:30. Police evacuated residents as a precaution, and several roads were closed, but were reopened by this evening.

Five employees were inside at the time of the blast, but all of them are safe. There’s no word on what caused the explosion.
