C-difficile not likely cause in Hamilton death

A patient with C. Difficile has died, after an outbreak at the Jurvaniski hospital in Hamilton.

But a medical review shows C. Difficile was unlikely to have contributed to the death.

However, two new cases have been reported in the hospital’s E3 unit, bringing the total number of ongoing cases up to five.

Doctors say the infection can be brought on by certain antibiotic use.

A C.Difficile outbreak was declared in the unit at Juravinski on August 27th.
