West Nile case in Niagara

The first human case of the west nile virus in Niagara has been found.

A St. Catharines woman is recovering at home after being diagnosed with the west nile virus.

She is expected to make a full recovery.

Niagara officials also reported 12 mosquito pools and two birds have tested positive for west nile virus.

Officials are asking people to take extra precautions to avoid mosquitoes, as this is the peak season for contracting the virus.
