Hamilton police have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found inside a burnt out convenience store in central Hamilton.

An autopsy is set for Monday on the body of 21 year old Samir Anbari.

He’d been working on renovations in the building.

The fire started early Saturday in a former 711 on Main Street East that was being converted into a Big Bee convenience store.

Anbari came to Canada from Morocco only a few months ago and lived here with his wife.

Police have charged 30 year old Sami Karnaz of Mississauga with arson and disregard for human life.

They have not yet laid a murder charge.
