Armed robbery in Hamilton

Hamilton police are searching for a man in connection to an armed robbery at a convenience store.

The crime took place around 10 Monday night at the Welcome Mart at Barton Street East and Gage Avenue North.

Police say a man with a knife took off with cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes.

The employee working at the store at the time was not hurt.

Police describe the man as white, wearing a red hooded sweater, black bandana covering the lower part of his face, dark pants and dark shoes.
