Klees: ‘somebody lying’ in Ornge investigation

The Progressive Conservatives aren’t backing down when it comes to the controversy at Ontario’s air ambulance service.
Transportation critic Frank Klees says the McGuinty government has failed to get to the bottom of the problems at Ornge. He says a leaked draft budget for Ornge suggests the service is running a $14.5 million deficit. Klees says those documents – dated more than a year ago – point to numerous examples of bad judgment and questionable investments. He says the investigation into Ornge needs to continue throughout the summer to determine whether standards of care at Ornge are being compromised even further.
“We want some answers on not only this document, on not only this document, but many other issues. We have to recall a number of witnesses that we’ve had. There have been contradictions. Somebody is lying under oath in these hearings. And without having the ability to recall these people, we have no way of getting to the bottom of it.”
Klees also brought up the the fact that legislative hearings into Ornge have yet to hear from the service’s former head Chris Mazza. Psychiatrists have previously found Mazza unfit to testify, but he has been asked again to testify on June 6th.
