Rabies drop in Niagara

If you were looking skyward near the Welland Canal today, you might have seen a bright yellow helicopter flying overhead.

That’s the helicopter with the Ministry of Natural Resources dropping rabies vaccine bait up and down the Canal.

They started this week and plan to drop 80 thousand packets of rabies vaccine in between the Niagara River and Welland Canal.

It’s part of their efforts to keep the rabies virus at bay.
