Employment Growth in Hamilton
Statistics Canada released new figures showing tremendous employment gains in the Hamilton area.
Over the last year about 20, 000 people found new jobs in the Hamilton metropolitan area, which includes Burlington and Grimsby.
The release also shows that the unemployment rate dipped to a three-year low to 6.1 per cent, down from 6.8 per cent at this time last year.
The growth in employment is attributed the the opening of positions at a number of smaller companies and mass hirings at larger ones such as Canada Bread, which opened about a year ago on Nebo road on the Hamilton mountain.
The numbers are a sign of a positive trend, and cause for cautious optimism for the area.
