Basketball game raises funds for murder victim’s family

Hamilton Police and students and staff at Ancaster High School held a fundraiser this afternoon for the family of a woman murdered in her Oakville home last month.

The school took on police officers in a basketball game to raise money for Katherine Newman’s three sons. She was a graduate of Ancaster High.

Her family was at the packed gymnasium including her father, retired Hamilton judge Walter Stayshyn.

$1300 was raised.
