Woman killed in Barton Street crash

A woman has died in a crash that happened a short distance from Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Paramedics say they responded to the intersection of Barton and Melrose Streets just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

When emergency crews arrived, they found two injured people.

An older woman with serious injuries died on the scene and an older man was taken to Hamilton General Hospital and is now listed in critical condition.

So far details on what may have caused the crash have not been released.
