Arrests in Scarborough barber’s murder

Two brothers have been charged with the murder of 35-year old Chris Thompson.

The barber and father of two was shot several times in the head at the Cut Creator barber shop late last month. The shooter pulled a shotgun from a duffel bag, went into the shop, fired several times at thompson from point-blank range — then put the gun back in the bag and took off.

Police executed search warrants in Toronto, Ottawa and Orillia yesterday. They seized several guns, drugs and stolen property; they also arrested five people, including Kevin Perez, 27, and Christopher Perez, 22. They’re charged with first degree murder. Police are identifying Kevin Perez as the man seen on surveillance video going in to the barber shop.

Investigators say the murder was not gang related.
