Autopsy today on man killed by Hamilton Police

(Updated video) An autopsy will be done today on the man killed during an investigation by Hamilton Police.

Phonesay Chanthachak, 27, died at Hamilton General Hospital yesterday after an altercation with Hamilton Police at Quigley and Albright. The road remains closed as the province’s Special Investigations Unit continues its probe.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police result in serious injury or death.

It’s believed that Chanthachak is originally from Laos and has a wife or girlfriend, two daughters. He may be from the city’s east end, Stintson and Blythe Street.

All the SIU will say about what happened is, at 1pm yesterday officers attempted to stop a van, then there was an confrontation between police and Chanthachak. Police say they shot out the van’s tires and one of them was damaged.
