Ancaster hydro fire

Ancaster High School will be closed Thursday because the high school and an aquatics centre had to be evacuated, after a power surge in the building Wednesday afternoon.

The surge started a fire in the hydro room on the second floor of the Ancaster Aquatics Centre on Jerseyville Road.

It also blew two transformers at Ancaster High School which is next door to the centre.

Power is currently out at both buildings.

There’s no word yet on the cost of damages.
