World AIDS Day – raising awareness while cases grow

Today is World AIDS Day – and this year marks 30 years since AIDS was first identified.

After decades, the main message around the planet today was optimism. U2’s lead singer Bono, who’s been an activist for years, said “30 years, 30 million funerals later, we have the end in sight.”

Just this week Toronto hospice Casey House released a report with some shocking numbers to show how big of a problem HIV and AIDS is in Ontario. It says the number of people living with the virus has jumped 31 per cent between 2003 and 2008.
