Niagara sees third serious house fire in week

A Welland man and his young daughter escaped from their burning home this morning.

But they were only able to get out with the clothes on their backs. Their Murdock Avenue house was destroyed by the blaze.

The man reportedly saw what looked like flickering through his kitchen window. But when he went outside to investigate flames were shooting through the roof.

Welland firefighters spent all day at the house, looking for what sparked the blaze. They’re looking at a number of possible causes including the wood stove.

This is the third serious house fire in Niagara within the past week.
