Dead birds being removed from Wasaga Beach

Officials have the bleak task of cleaning up thousands of dead birds on Georgian Bay today.

Ontario’s ministry of natural resources is assessing the full scope of the incident, which is said to involve as many as six-thousand birds.

Authorities say such mass die-offs are not uncommon on the great lakes at this time of year.

Previous cases have involved birds eating botulism-infected fish.
