The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were back at work this afternoon at Ivor Wynne Stadium, trying to make sure everyone in the community celebrates a happy Thanksgiving.

Team members and volunteers were busy handing out food boxes to local families in need this holiday weekend.

It’s all part of Hage’s Heroes, organized by offensive lineman Marwan Hage. The Ticats have partnered up with Speroway for the fourth straight year of the Thanksgiving program – and hage says it’s just something that has to happen.

“I repeat it all the time. We don’t do this to to feel good about it. We just do it because it needs to be done. It’s very important to us to keep doing it, and the reason we’re able to do it is because we have great sponsors and great help from the city and support. It just needs to be done.”

Each box they give out contains about 42 pounds of food. Today’s Thanksgiving drive will provide food for 1,000 local families.
