Man charged in death of gas attendant
The man accused of running down a Mississauga gas station attendant last May is behind bars tonight.
Hashem Atifeh Rad, 62, was working at a Petro-Canada station, when he tried to stop a man from taking off without paying for the 75 bucks worth of gas he’d just put in his tank. He was hit by a vehicle and dragged into the street. He later died in hospital.
Peel police created a special task force to find the driver and after searching hundreds of similar suspect vehicles, they arrested Abdullahi Mohamoud, 22, this morning.
Mohamoud is facing charges of fail to remain causing death, criminal negligence causing death, theft under $5,000.00, and breach of recognizance. He’ll appear in Brampton court tomorrow.
