Sailor from Hamilton rescued at sea

A sailor from Hamilton has been rescued off the Florida Keys after being adrift for three days with no radio.

The crew of the navy frigate U.S.S. Carr noticed the 26-foot boat through binoculars and realized the man onboard was waving for help.

A replacement battery got his engine started and the Carr escorted the boat towards port until a Coast Guard patrol arrived.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.

The Coast Guard says it was pure luck that he was found.
