U.S. Steel talks resume

There’s a glimmer of hope in the 10-month-old standoff between U.S. Steel and its workers in Hamilton.

The two sides will sit down today to discuss the company’s first settlement offer since the standoff began.

A provincial mediator will be on hand as the contentious issues of pensions and benefit plans are hammered out.

The union has backed down on issues around vacation time and cost of living allowances.
