Silver alert for Alzheimer’s patients
Ontario is going to develop a province-wide system to help find missing seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
It’s called the silver advisory program, and is designed to help police and families track Alzheimer’s patients who wander off. Premier Dalton McGuinty says it’s a simple and cost-efficient way to help families and seniors deal with what can be a traumatic event. The province will create a community-based alert system, similar to the amber alerts used when children go missing. More from Cindy Csordas:
