Baby Kidnapper Charged

A woman who plead guilty to kidnapping a baby at a fake Bollywood movie casting call will spend two and a half years behind bars.

24-year old Michelle Gopaul — a model and actress from New York City — was charged with abducting a one month old girl in Toronto last December.

The baby’s parents brought her to a Bollywood casting call advertised on Craigslist.

They say a woman claiming to work for the casting agency told them she would keep an eye on the little girl but the parents soon discovered both she and their baby were missing.

The baby was returned — unharmed – to a police station the same day.

When Gopaul addressed the court she said she took the baby because she told her ex-boyfriend she was pregnant with his child — hoping the lie would keep him in her life.

She went on to say that she was “not a bad person” and wishes she could “go back and erase it all.”
