Last-minute grocery shopping

If you thought the malls were busy today, the grocery stores are even busier.
The lines at Longo’s on Fairview St in Burlington have thinned out here a little bit, but earlier they were three and four deep. They say grocery stores are the number one merchant during the holiday season. Canadians spent $200 million last December 23rd, making it the busiest day of the year.
Longo’s Fairview manager Maria Condello told CHCH News they’ve run out of buggies a couple of times.
“We have a lot of great energy in the store. Our guests are buying the signature turkeys and spiral hams and fresh produce and a lot of delicious baked goods, poinsettias and lots of chocolates.”
