Fatal accident on Brock Road

A fatal accident Friday night claimed one life and sent four people to hospital, including two children.

It happened on Brock Road between concessions five and six.

A young man in his twenties died in the crash.

Area residents have been saying for months that it was an accident waiting to happen.

Two and a half months ago another serious crash at the same intersection sent four people to hospital.

There are stop signs on the 5th concession but in Friday’s crash the young man went straight through them, and smashed into a pickup truck carrying a family of four.

All members of the family are alive but both parents suffered serious injuries.

Residents think speed and visibility play a factor in why there are so many accidents in that particular area.

Jeff Cowan has been emailing councillor Robert Pasuta for months, calling for reduced speed limits and a flashing light or four-way stop at this intersection.

But before the city can change speed limits or make major changes it has to complete a traffic study.
