U.S. Steel to idle Hamilton coke plant

U.S. Steel says they have decided to idle their Hamilton coke plant.
The move affects about 100 workers at the plant.
In a statement, the company said they are “continuing to evaluate all of our operations to determine their long term value to our business.”
U.S. Steel says they will try to reassign workers while the plant is idled, but have not specified how long the operation will be shut down.
The move comes less than a week after union members at U.S. Steel Canada ratified a new contract.
