A statue of a Toronto boy who was starved to death was unveiled in a Toronto park Saturday.

Jeffrey Baldwin’s sad story moved Ottawa resident Todd Boyce to raise money to build the memorial.

When Boyce learned that the 5-year-old had loved Superman, he asked DC Entertainment for permission to use the Superman logo on the statue.

The company initially refused, but changed their mind after a huge backlash.

Jeffrey was starved to death by his grandparents, and died in November 2002.

He spent years locked inside a bedroom with no access to food or a toilet.
