Niagara passenger railway proposed

Niagara’s Trillium Railway says it’s interested in offering passenger service between Port Colborne and St. Catharines, where a transfer could be made to go transit.
Regional officials have been asked to consider a public-private partnership, to make use of Trillium’s tracks along the west side of the Welland Canal. If the service goes ahead, Trillium says necessary upgrades could be completed in 6 months for about $1.6 million dollars, depending on the number of stops along the 50 km line. But, self-propelled passenger cars to run the service would cost about $4 million each, if purchased new.
