Halton Police begin weapon turn-in amnesty program Wednesday

The first firearms amnesty program by Halton Police starts Wednesday.
Until November 15th people can turn in any unwanted weapons or guns without the fear of being charged for having them.
Police emphasis participants must call them at 905-465-8733 for the weapons to be picked up.
Do not bring weapons or firearms to the station, transport them in your vehicle or greet officers at the door with weapons or firearms.
The phone line will be monitored from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Officers assigned to pick up the weapons will provide ID and require a signature for destruction.
