Search for missing Burlington man extends into Oakville

(Updated)
It’s now been one week since a 50-year old Burlington man went missing. Tuesday, police were canvassing the Oakville neighbourhood where he was last seen.
50-year old Yanis Ozollapa was last seen on September 30th leaving a house he was working at in Oakville. It was around 2 in the afternoon when he left so police were in that neighbourhood today at the same time hoping to jog people’s memories and looking for information that will help them find him.
Officers hit the streets of this Oakville neighbourhood. They were knocking on doors and stopping cars, looking for any information that may lead them to Ozollapa.
Police say he lives with his wife and young child in Burlington and also has family in Latvia. He hasn’t contacted them, or his friends, in a week.
Halton Police Detective Constable Garry Hans: “This is very uncharacteristic of Mr. Ozollapa.”
This neighbourhood is full of posters like this one. When Ozollapa was last seen he was doing some contract work in the area and around 2 in the afternoon he was seen leaving this house here on Weeping Willow Drive.
He was driving this truck — a 2002 black Chevrolet Avalanche with a personalized Ontario licence plate ‘Ozollapa’.
He’s six-feet tall, 170 pounds, has grey eyes and is bald with a goatee. And he speaks with a heavy Latvian accent.
And while police are asking people if they saw anything suspicious that day, they aren’t jumping to any conclusions.
Det. Cst. Hans: “I think it’s too early to suspect foul play. I think right now what we are hoping for is some answers.”
We reached out to Ozollapa’s family and co-workers but they didn’t want to speak to us.
Police have finished up their canvass for now and say they’ve spoken to everyone in that neighbourhood. They’re asking anyone with information to give them call.
