In December 2005, Robin Williams came to Dundas to shoot scenes for the movie Man of the Year. CHCH’s Natalie Marconi was among the many onlookers hoping for an autograph.

He wasn’t about to act like he wasn’t cold. Instead, Robin Williams chose to cuddle with a few of the locals.

RW: “Thanks guys.”
“Thank you.
“Welcome to Dundas.
RW: “Thank you, ma’am. Thank you for letting us be here.”

Cheryl Jones says her brush with celebrity was worth braving the sub-zero temperatures. “It’s not something that I’m never gonna probably see again, you know I’ve never seen any big movie stars before and I probably never will again so…”

Christopher Walken also made an appearance today, but to our disappointment he just kept on walkin’.

Williams, on the other hand, made several stops to chat with his fans.

Vincenza Triantafillou: “He’s a lot taller than we thought. For some reason he seemed a little shorter on TV, but very nice, he was very cold and in a rush to start. He said he had to go…another take to make so…”

The movie is called Man of the Year and features Williams as a late-night talk show host who is dared to run for president, and winds-up doing a lot better than he imagined. Dundas is one of many stops the production will make in southern Ontario over the next few weeks, much to the delight of star-gazers and local businesses.

Executive producer David Coatsworth: “building supply stores and restaurants, things like that. It’s not one of the bigger shoots. If we were here for weeks and weeks there would probably be more local resources being used but we’re a bit of a road-show. It’s a bit like the movie itself, we’re on sort of a campaign trail. We’re going from town to town, we’re littering the countryside with money.”

After all, there’s no business like show business.
