Ticats injury update

Yesterday, the Tiger-Cats placed Zach Collaros on the 6 game injured list. Today, we have more on the Tiger-Cats injury situation. Who’s out, who’s in — and who’ll be playing against Winnipeg on Thursday night at Ron Joyce Stadium.
On Monday, Craig Butler was wearing a boot. Today, the boot was gone, but he still wasn’t practicing. Believe it or not, the 25-year old Western Mustang alum, had suffered his right leg injury long before he even made this incredible interception, and he played through the pain.
Head Coach Kent Austin: “It just shows you how tough he is. He came out and went back in. But he was pretty sore the next day!”
Sophomore safety Neil King, who started two games last season, will fill-in for Butler this week: “He’s side by side with me this whole week, giving me some key information. So he’s been a big help.”
Injured receiver Brandon Banks will also miss Thursday night’s game. But the good news is, there are several Ticats returning to the lineup. Mike Filer will be back at centre. And the line-backing duo of Rico Murray and Simoni Lawrence will return after missing the last two games.
Kent Austin: “We need a lot of guys to play throughout a tough season. 18 game schedule, you’re gonna go through a lot of players — especially here! So that game time experience is important, but it’s good to have those two guys back.”
For the always enthusiastic Lawrence, cheering on his teammates from the sidelines was a tough task, but he never let it show: “I mean, when I come to work. It’s my job. When I go home, I cry. No, it’s just part of the game.”
