Niagara Falls humidity

It was so hot and humid outside today that some people were passing out from the heat.

The weather conditions were not only uncomfortable, for some they were potentially life threatening.

Paramedics responded to a number of heat calls today, and tourists were trying to escape by getting close to the water, some opting to ride the Hornblower on the Niagara River.

There were a couple of ambulance calls to the Hornblower dock today. People were getting dizzy because of the heat. Hornblower tells riders not to put on the raincoat before they get on the boat because the plastic acts like a sauna.

The thermometer in St. Catharines was reading 34 degrees.

It’s hot on the ground, and even hotter for those working construction.

“If it gets too bad up there we actually come down, take a shade break for five minutes, spray water over our heads, and then go back to work again,” says one local roofer.

People were spraying water on themselves and drinking plenty of water.

Many were out at Lakeside Park in St. Catharines, but the shoreline was so polluted they were advised not go in the water.
