Man charged in sex assault

This next story is a disturbing one for parents and children. A Hamilton man is facing a number of charges including sexual assault after he met two boys in a park and invited them back to his apartment.

The Hamilton Police Service are looking for help in this case after two boys, aged 11 and 16 were lured away from Beasley Park Wednesday afternoon. The two boys were approached by a man in the park who befriended them and later took them back to his apartment in downtown Hamilton where police say one of the boys was assaulted. They responded to a call for help and shortly afterward arrested 49 year-old Michael McLellan.

He is now in custody and charged with four sex related offences as well as breach of probation.

The Hamilton Police Service will not tell us if he is a registered sex offender or release a lot of details in this case. But they are asking for help from the public. They want anyone who may have been in the park and may have seen a man interacting with two young boys to contact them at the Child Abuse Unit of the Hamilton Police Service and give them any information they might have.

As for the suspect, 49-year old Michael McLellan, he is to appear in court next week.
