Hewson faces charges for 7th victim

The 31-year old Ancaster man charged with molesting teenage boys while he was their sailing coach was re-arrested Thursday night. Sean Hewson is now facing a new charge, for a total of 21 counts.
The new charge was laid after a seventh alleged victim came forward to Halton police. Hewson is now charged with invitation to sexual touching. It’s the latest addition to a long list including several sexual assault allegations.
He was let out on bail under the same conditions as his last release. The name of the new alleged victim has been added to a list of people Hewson cannot contact. He can’t leave his parents’ home in Ancaster unless he is with an immediate family member. He’s also banned from public pools, parks, and schools. Hewson was a sailing coach with the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club at the time of the alleged incidents. They took place between 2003 and 2009, when some of the complainants were students of Hewson’s. He was also a lifeguard with the City of Burlington and worked with other sailing clubs in the Halton area. At the time of his arrest, he was volunteering with the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club.
His bail conditions bar him from any job or volunteer work that would put him in a position of trust with children. He’s due back in court July 2nd.
