Local police pay tribute to fallen mounties

Condolences for the fallen officers are pouring in from around the world. Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered his while on a trip overseas: “I’d just like to express all of our sorrow at the deaths of the three members of the RCMP killed last night in New Brunswick in the performance of their duties. It should obviously remind us that our men and women in law enforcement put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect us as Canadians.”
This tragedy has hit home with police forces across the country. The Halton police bureau in Burlington are honouring the fallen officers with a book of condolences as they are at all of their stations in the region.
Members of the public and police officers can offer their sympathies and condolences to the families, friends and co-workers of the fallen officers. A number of people have already signed the book.
Social media is also playing a big role in how police are reacting to the shootings.
Halton police tweeted: “Deeply saddened to hear about shooting in @rcmpnb. Thoughts are with residents and officers in harms way.”
“The Niagara Regional Police Service is saddened at the tragic loss of three RCMP officers in New Brunswick.”
and “our deepest and heartfelt condolences and sympathy go out to their families and to the men and women of the RCMP who worked with the fallen officers.”
Peel regional police said: “as I leave tonight, I will go home, kiss my kids and be thankful that I could. our @rcmpnb family are not all so fortunate.”
Police all over the world are reacting to the situation in Moncton. The Los Angeles Police Department write: “our thoughts & condolences to our brothers/sisters @rcmpnb & the families of the 3 officers killed.”
here’s what Hamilton police said on Twitter: “In honour of the @RCMPNB fallen officers, flags at Hamilton Police Stations are at half mast #PrayForMoncton.”

Flags at all police stations across the city remain at half staff tonight
Hamilton Police have lowered their flags to half-mast to mourn the loss of the in Moncton. Flags at all police stations across the city have been lowered today.
